چکیده

Abstract Spectroscopic investigations are made on expanding plasma plumes created by a 20 ns, 3 J laser pulse impinging perpendicularly onto targets of boron, boron carbide and boron nitride. The characterization of the plasma plumes is carried out spectroscopically in the wavelength range from 30 to 330 Å, and by taking pinhole pictures at shorter wavelengths. The experimental results are compared with the plasma plume produced from different targets under the same experimental conditions. The calculated plasma temperatures are 50 eV and 30 eV at 1 mm from the target in the cases of boron and boron carbide targets, respectively. Electron temperature measurements were made as a function of laser irradiance, distance from the target surface and time elapsed after the maximum of the laser pulse.

Extreme ultraviolet emission from dense plasmas generated with sub-10-fs laser pulses

The extreme ultraviolet (XUV) emission from dense plasmas generated with sub-10-fs laser pulses with varying peak intensities up to 3*10 W/cm is investigated for different target materials. K shell spectra are obtained from low Z targets (carbon and boron nitride). In the spectra a series limit for the hydrogen and helium like resonance lines is observed indicating that the plasma is at high de...

Modulating Band Gap and HOCO/LUCO Energy of Boron-Nitride Nanotubes under a Uniform External Electric Field

In this study, spectroscopic properties of the single-walled boron-nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) –a semiconductor channel in molecular diodes and molecular transistors–have been investigated under field-free and various applied electric fields by first principle methods. Our analysis shows that increasing the electric field in boron-nitride nanotube (BNNT) decreases the Highest Occupied Crystal Orbi...

Laser-initiated primary and secondary nuclear reactions in Boron-Nitride

Nuclear reactions initiated by laser-accelerated particle beams are a promising new approach to many applications, from medical radioisotopes to aneutronic energy production. We present results demonstrating the occurrence of secondary nuclear reactions, initiated by the primary nuclear reaction products, using multicomponent targets composed of either natural boron (B) or natural boron nitride...

A green chemistry approach for facile synthesis of functionalized boron nitride nanosheets

The lack of a high-yield, renewable and low-cost synthesis method limits the potential applications of boron nitride with impressive characterizations. In this study, a facile method is developed for the preparation of chemically functionalized boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) by considering the quantity and quality of chemical materials involved in the synthesis process. The proposed green met...

Determination of thermodynamic parameters of produced materials from (ATTZ) with boron nitride nano-cages in different conditions of temperature, with DFT method

6-Amino-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b][1,2,4,5]tetrazine (ATTz)is an explosive material, that has been synthesized from the reaction of 3,6-diaminotetrazine , with nitrous acid and then sodium azide. In the simplest terms, an explosive is defined as a substance, which on initiation by friction, impact, shock, spark, flame, heating, or any simple application of an energy pulse, undergoes a rapid chemical...
